Description: |
The first of a two-unit course leading to the BVMS. Clinical pathology, pathology and general medicine will be taught using an integrated approach based on body systems; components on diseases of horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, dogs and cats; instruction in medical, radiological, anaesthetic, surgical and necropsy procedures for all domesticated animals; components on therapeutics and reproduction and obstetrics and food animal production. Students will be expected to participate fully in all practical classes including those which involve live animals. |
Contact time: |
Lectures/tutorials/practicals: due to the requirement for attendance at clinics and rotation through the various stations within the School, emphasis will be given to small group teaching. Student contact time will be approximately 35 hours per week for each semester. |
Prerequisites: |
Completion of the BSc in Veterinary Biology. |

Students who have successfully completed a unit may not enrol for credit in any subsequent version of that unit, even if under a different code and/or title, nor in any parallel lower- or higher-level version. Students enrolled in a higher-level version of a unit are required to demonstrate advanced analytical skills and/or use of advanced research tools in assignments modified for that level.
Cancellation of Courses, Minors and Units
The University reserves the right to cancel, without notice, any course, major, minor or unit if the number of students enrolled falls below limits set by the University.
