Canadian recruit to the School of Law

Professor Robert ForbesProfessor Robert Forbes joined the School of Law in July 2001, as Professor of Law.

Professor Forbes has more than twenty years of experience in the practice of law in Toronto, Canada with the firm McCarthy Tetrault, Canada’s largest law firm, and spent the last eighteen years as a partner in that firm.

His practice specialities were corporate law, financial institutions law and broadcast law, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finances and project finance, much of it international.

Professor Forbes was also head of the McCarthy Tetrault Latin American Practice Group and has worked extensively in Mexico, Chile and Argentina.

Professor Forbes has taught law full time in Canada and taught part time at four different Canadian law schools during his time in practice.

He has co-authored three Canadian legal texts with Murdoch University’s School of Law’s Dean, Professor Ralph Simmonds.
