Latest NewsProfessor of Environmental Science, Richard Hobbs, has been recognized as one of the top 250 most highly cited researchers in his field. He has been included on ISIHighlyCited.com, a web resource about researchers who have significantly influenced their field through publications. Associate Professor Robert Leeson, from the Murdoch Business School, has recently been named 17th among the world's top 500 Economists on the basis of the number of journal articles included in the ECONLIT database of the American Economic Association. Dr David Hampson was recently elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology. Dr Jan Gothard from the School of History took out the non-fiction prize in the Premier's book awards for Blue china: Single Female Migration to Colonial Australia. Emeritus Professor Arthur McComb was awarded the 'Silver Jubilee' Award by the Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA), and was presented with the award at their annual meeting in Fremantle in July. The Centre for Electronic Commerce and Internet Studies hosted a seminar by Ms Rosemary Sinclair, Managing Director of the Australian Telecommunications Users Group in June. She spoke about Information and Communication Technologies and their Contribution to Productivity and Economic Growth. Dr. Timo Vuori, a member of the centre, recently won $100,000 to provide a program in electronic commerce to the government of the Philippines. Melanie Rodriga from SSHE was elected to the National Board of ASDA (Australian Screen Directors Association) in Sydney. This is the first time WA has been represented nationally and represents a significant attempt at including the West in the national agenda. |
