Ten years Ag Biotech in WA: the next phaseAbout 140 leaders and researchers from the agricultural industry, the WA Department of Agriculture (DAWA), the four public universities in WA, attended the combined 10 year celebration of the formation and activities of the WA State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre (SABC) and a public lecture given by Professor Ingo Potrykus, father of golden rice last December. The SABC is the major centre for agricultural and veterinary biotechnology in Western Australia, and provides access regional access to major platform technologies needed in molecular research. Last year the SABC housed over 200 researchers with a total research spend in the order of $7million.
